SEO for tradesmen.Found first in your area.
Local SEO for trades businesses that want more of the right jobs from Google, from £250 a month with a free custom-coded website. Built by a small team that works with trades every day.
Trades SEO
Built for trades,not big brands.
Most of the businesses we work with are trades: electricians, builders, plumbers, roofers, cleaners and specialist contractors. They don’t want marketing jargon. They want their phone to ring with the jobs they actually want, from the areas they actually cover.
That is what SEO for tradesmen does. We build a page for each job and each main area you cover, get your Google Business Profile working properly and help you collect reviews. Then every month you get a short, plain-English update on where you rank.
SEO by trade
SEO for everykind of trade.
Every trade has different jobs, customers and busy seasons, so every trade needs its own approach. Start with yours.
Carpenters, joiners and kitchen fitters
Carpentry and fitting trades
Kitchens, staircases, doors and bespoke joinery. Portfolio-led pages with project photos win these jobs.
Landscapers, gardeners and tree surgeons
Outdoor trades
Seasonal work that rewards pages ready before spring, plus steady maintenance and tree work all year.
Painters, decorators and plasterers
Finishing trades
Interior and exterior painting, plastering and rendering. Before-and-after photos and reviews do the selling.
Locksmiths, cleaners and more
Other local trades
Emergency and repeat-service trades, where the Google map and fast mobile pages bring in most of the work.
Real searches
What trade customerstype into Google.
These are real UK search numbers for trades. Nearly all of them include “near me”, which means Google decides what to show based on location, reviews and how relevant your business looks. That is exactly what local SEO works on.

What we do
What trades SEOincludes with us.
A page for every job
One general “services” page can’t rank for everything. We build a page for each job you want more of, answering what customers ask about cost, timing and what’s included.
Area pages done properly
A useful page for each main town you cover, with jobs you have done there. Never a batch of identical pages with the town name swapped, which Google treats as spam.
Google Business Profile
The right categories, services and service area, real job photos and regular posts. For most trades this is where the phone calls come from.
Reviews that keep coming
A simple way to ask every happy customer for a Google review, so you build a steady stream of recent, detailed reviews.
A free custom-coded website
Every plan includes a fast, mobile-first website built for enquiries, with a tap-to-call button on every screen. No templates and nothing for you to maintain.
Plain-English reporting
Each month you see where you rank for the jobs and areas we are targeting and what we did. No jargon and no 40-page reports.
Lead sites or your own
Lead sites vsyour own website.
Lead sites and directories bring in work, and many trades use them. But it helps to know what you are getting compared with ranking your own website and Google profile.
| Lead sites and directories | Your own website and Google profile | |
|---|---|---|
| Who else gets the enquiry | Lead sites and directories: Often shared with, or chosen from, several other trades | Your own website and Google profile: It comes straight to you |
| What it costs | Lead sites and directories: Membership fees or a charge per lead | Your own website and Google profile: A fixed monthly plan, however many enquiries you get |
| Your reviews | Lead sites and directories: Stay on their platform | Your own website and Google profile: Build up on your own Google Business Profile |
| When you stop paying | Lead sites and directories: The leads stop | Your own website and Google profile: Ranking pages keep working for months |
Trades SEO explained
Local SEO for trades,in plain English.
Why tradesmen need local SEO
When someone needs a trade, they search Google, look at the map and the first few results, and call one of them. “Electrician near me” alone is searched around 40,500 times a month in the UK. Local SEO is the work that puts your business in those first few places for the jobs and areas you want.
How Google decides which trades to show
Google says local results are based on three things: relevance, distance and prominence. In plain English, that means:
- Relevance: does your website and Google profile clearly show you do the job being searched for? A page for each job fixes this.
- Distance: how close you are to the person searching. You can’t move, but area pages help Google understand where you work.
- Prominence: how well known and trusted you are, judged by reviews, mentions and links from other websites. This builds up month by month.
Digital marketing for tradesmen: where SEO fits
Tradesman marketing usually means word of mouth, lead sites, a Facebook page and maybe some Google Ads. They all help, but most stop working the moment you stop paying or posting. SEO builds something you own: a website and Google profile that bring in enquiries every month. It works best alongside your reviews and social media, not instead of them.
Common mistakes that cost trades jobs
We see the same problems on most trade websites we audit:
- One “services” page trying to cover every job, so nothing ranks well.
- No phone number or call button visible on a phone screen.
- A Google Business Profile with the wrong categories, no photos and no recent posts.
- Different business names, numbers or addresses across listing sites, which confuses Google.
- No system for asking happy customers for reviews.
- Slow, template websites that are hard to update, so they never get new pages.
Looking for a Checkatrade alternative?
Many trades search for alternatives to lead sites because they are tired of paying for shared leads. Your own website and Google profile are the long-term alternative: enquiries come straight to you, your reviews build up on Google, and the cost doesn’t rise with every lead. You can keep using lead sites while SEO builds, then decide what you still need.

Good to know
SEO for tradesmen,your questions answered.
The things trades businesses ask us most before starting SEO.
Our plans are £250, £500 or £1,000 a month. Local Starter (£250) covers your website, Google Business Profile, directory listings, a review system and 2 new pages a month. Growth (£500) adds 4 pages and a guide each month, quality backlinks and call tracking. Dominate (£1,000) adds 6–8 pages, more backlinks, multiple locations and AI search checks. There is a three-month minimum, then it rolls monthly.
Google Business Profile and technical fixes can help within weeks. New job and area pages usually take one to three months to start ranking, and busy areas can take three to six months. We show you what is moving every month.
Electricians, plumbers, builders, roofers, cleaners, specialist contractors and plenty more. If customers search Google to find your trade in your area, SEO can help.
Often, yes. One or two extra jobs a month usually covers the cost, and ranking pages keep working. If you are already booked solid for months, we will tell you honestly that now isn’t the time.
For local searches, very often. Google puts a lot of weight on how close you are to the person searching and how relevant and well reviewed your business is. A local trade with good pages and plenty of reviews regularly beats national firms in its own area.
There is a three-month minimum, because SEO needs time to show results. After that it rolls monthly.
No. Many trades keep them while SEO builds up, then rely on them less once enquiries come straight from Google.
Yes. We are based in Bath but work remotely with trades across the UK. Our electrician case study, Martin Kaine, is in Colchester.
